The J.W. Howard Estate
The Victoria On Main was built in 1870 and was part of the J.W. Howard Estate. J.W. Howard came to Corry from Wellsville, New York to establish the JW & AP Howard Tannery. The Tannery was established in 1867, and eventually became known for selling some of the finest leathers in the country.
Soon after the tannery was established, this stately home was commissioned and built by European contractors from Sweden, who were most likely Masons.

Through the Years
J.W. Howard came to Corry from Wellsville, New York to establish the JW & AP Howard Tannery, which eventually became known for selling some of the finest leathers in the country.
This stately home was commissioned and built by European contractors from Sweden, who were most likely Masons, as part of the J.W. Howard Estate.
Following J.W. Howard's death on December 10th, 1896, the estate was passed down to several members of the Howard family before being sold to the Taggart family — the last to own and operate the Tannery.
A large fire destroyed the Tannery and the property was split up, marking the end of an era for the industrial legacy of the estate.
Millie and Ralph Eastman purchased the home and raised their family on the beautiful land for 38 years. Their son Tim and wife Cathy began carefully renovating the home from 1999 to 2020, bringing back its beautiful Victorian luster.
Today, owners Richard and Angela honor the history of the home and the town that welcomes people from far and wide. The Victoria On Main offers guests the original charm of a historic bed and breakfast with the comfort and conveniences the modern day requires.
